Vocabulary Required for "Living Environment" - Letter "A"

If unsure of a definition, please research the word in:
Acid Rain- When pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur combine with water in the atmosphere.
Adaptation- A change that helps an organism to fit in the environment.
Air Pollution- Contamination of the atmosphere.
Amoeba- A protozoan, a single-celled organism which moves by means of flowing cytoplasm: pseudopod.
Anaerobic- With out oxygen, "Certain bacteria, like e-Coli, prefer to grow in anaerobic environments such as the intestines of mammals."
Ancestor- Predecessor, some organism that came before the existing organisms, "Scientists say Homo Erectus and Homo Habilis are the predecessors to Homo Sapiens [Human Beings]."
Anomaly- Irregular, not normal, "A small percentage of the population are born with a hand anomaly, they have a sixth finger in their hands and feet."
Anther- Part of the stamen that contains the pollen. Male
Asexual Reproduction- Reproduction which involves only one parent.
Atmosphere- The thin layer of gases that surround earth.
Autotroph- An organism that is capable of making its own food. Ex green plants, algae, and certain bacteria. top
